Comms 101 welcomes Wholesome World
Comms 101 has started off 2020 with a bang and has welcomed an inspiring client to our client list, to say the least.
Inspiring brain tumour survivor and widower; Freyja Hanstein (32) officially launches her Wholesome World app in March 2020 across Australia following great success in the UK. Wholesome World has been created to increase awareness of how to fight, and work towards preventative measures for cancer.
In addition to cancer fighting content, the Wholesome World app provides digital access to healthy lifestyle information, medical research, including access to real-time information on scientific studies via PubMed and a curated list of TED talk’s from Freyja.
Freyja created the app, which encourages a wholesome approach to healthy living, after losing her husband Lars to abdominal synovial sarcoma cancer despite appearing fit and healthy. Two years later, Freyja herself was diagnosed with a brain tumour and was told to expect the worst.
Thankfully she had the tumour removed via surgery and subsequent radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment and has been living cancer free for one year. Despite life-changing side effects she created Wholesome World App to help others battling cancer by providing users with nutritious recipes, a library of pre-approved resources and articles and advice from experts.
During her post-surgery recovery, Freyja decided to combine the health and wellbeing research she had carried out for her own benefit, into the creation of the Wholesome World app. This valuable resource offers advice and guidance on how to follow a wholesome approach to life, with a particular aim to support anyone going through cancer treatment
It is intended to open the door for people to start understanding what benefits their own health and wellbeing, providing a reference point towards a wholesome approach to healthy living.
Freyja said: “Everybody is different, so the app focuses on many aspects of lifestyle and provides information on everything from home-based habits to scientific progress. It has professional contributions from nutritionists and chefs alongside trusted medical, lifestyle and healthy eating articles.
“I’ve also included music on the app because, after my operation, I was unable to read during my recovery, so I listened to lots of music instead. I couldn’t focus on much and to even understand basic conversation was very difficult, so having music that allowed me an element of meditation helped to calm any stress in me.”
Wholesome World’s content encourages users to embrace new ideas, recipes and ways of moving to take small, positive steps towards a healthier, more wholesome lifestyle, without feeling out of control.
“My experience of cancer made me want to create something to empower people with as much knowledge about their health, nutrition and wellbeing needs as possible. The app touches on so many different life and health aspects. My husband dealt with the repercussions of cancer for years and then so did I. After living cancer-free for two years I wanted to speak about the insight I have gained.” Freyja said.
Wholesome World provides users with ease of access to educational and engaging content, which is easy to understand – without the need of a scientific degree.
The app can download for iOS or Android by simply going to the website OR app store and searching “Wholesome World’.
Wholesome World is accredited within the formal review electronic medicinal approval within the university systems and across the EU.
